The Dubai Marina is a mini canal city often referred to as “new Dubai”. Dubai Marina is a canal city carved along a 3 kilometer stretch of the Persian Gulf shoreline. The community accommodates more than 120,000 people within its residential towers and townhouses. The community which includes over 50 residential towers offers residents a cosmopolitan and free spirited lifestyle. This man-made marina is strategically located near Interchange 5 on Sheikh Zayed Road close to Dubai’s well-known landmarks like the Dubai Internet City, The American University of Dubai and the Emirates Golf Club. Yearly rent ranges from the low end at AED 70,000 for a studio apartment to AED 470,000+ for a larger 4+ penthouse.
The high-rise towers in the Marina and an area called The Walk at JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) which features numerous restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, pharmacies, and boutique shops. There is also an open beach and numerous beach front hotels such as The Sheraton, The Address and Le Royal Meridian. All hotels have 4-5 restaurants and clubs which are licensed to serve alcohol.
The Dubai Marina Mall includes a Waitrose supermarket, Boots pharmacy, and several restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and shopping retailers. On the Marina/JBR Walk there is also a Spinney’s supermarket, a pharmacy, bookshop and liquor store and numerous bank branches with ATMs. The Drs Nicolas & Asp dental and medical clinic in JBR is a close medical clinic while the nearest hospitals with emergency service are the private MedCare Hospital in Al Safe and the Cedars Jebel Ali International Hospital.
There are a few nurseries such as the Marina Village Nursery in the Marina/JBR but no schools. Many nearby school options including Wellington International School and American School in Al Barsha are popular among expats. Many social groups including Dubai Marina Mum’s and Dubai American Women’s Association hold coffee mornings at facilities within the Dubai Marina. Waterfront beach activities including kite flying, camel rides and sky diving are popular entertainment outlets.
