Jumeirah Beach Residence (also known as JBR) is a 1.7 kilometers long, 2 square waterfront community located against the Persian Gulf and the Dubai Marina. It is the largest single phase residential development in the world and The JBR complex has over 6,900 apartments within six areas including: Shams, Amwai, Rimal, Sadaf and Muran. Yearly rent ranges from the low end at 60,000 AED for a studio apartment to 450,000+ AED for a larger 3 bedroom apartment.
The JBR towers are situated directly in front of JBR’s The Walk and ocean front. The JBR Walk features numerous restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, pharmacies, and boutique shops. There is also an open beach within walking distance with popular sporting events like skydiving, sailing and marine activities. A popular area for expats and tourists are the numerous surrounding hotels in JBR and the Dubai Marina. Most hotels have 4-5 restaurants and clubs which are licensed to serve alcohol.
There is a small Carrefour grocery store and a Spinney’s on the JBR/Marina Walk. Many JBR residents conduct a proper grocery run either at Waitrose supermarket located in The Dubai Marina Mall. The Drs Nicolas & Asp dental and medical clinic in JBR is a close medical clinic while the nearest hospitals with emergency service are the private Saudi German Hospital in Al Barsha or The Cedars Hospital in Jebel Ali. Similar to the Marina, there are a few nurseries but no schools. Many nearby school options including Wellington International School and American School in Al Barsha are popular among expats. Many social groups including Dubai Marina Mum’s and Dubai American Women’s Association hold coffee mornings at facilities within the Dubai Marina.
